Most acting problems stem from 

• We think of acting as the process of copying life of the character as portrayed in a script, narrated by the writer or briefly explained by the director. What does that mean? Simply this: in life we laugh, cry, and say things with a certain amount of emotional investment, so if we duplicate that emotional attributes and say our characters’ words, we will do Great Acting!
• And when that doesn’t work out the way we think, we are baffled: “I thought that if I said it just like I do in real life it would be REAL.”

The Fact No 1.

However, most acting problems stem from

• That we forget our own inborn or learned essence (archetype), our type, style- our physical attributes, physical movements, voice, language, gestures, body language and our emotions and attitudes.
• That as a "life" our glass is full, our slate is all written with no place for anything new
• That when we try hard to live a new and imaginary life of a different character than what we truly are, to the audience it looks labored and fake. People identify easily that the actor is not truthful and is "bad".
•  To dig deeper, the problem with that line of thought is this: we can’t copy the appearance of life, in the same way, that we can’t take a photograph of something and present it as the original and "live" itself. The photograph may be an external representation of the subject photographed, but that’s about it.

So how do we solve this problem, or what are the true underpinnings of great acting? 

Learn 

A. First and foremost, observe yourself keenly, know your type and undertake exercises (Michael Chekov) to learn to get rid of your type and how to be neutral to be able to create a new life of a character.

B. Acting for the camera and for a stage. The different techniques and how to market and promote yourself as a product in a highly competitive market where every aspiring actor is better than the other.

Then what's an acting technique?

• Acting technique is the process by which you create the appearance of life (a character from the story) by creating spontaneity and emotionally truthful behavior as you tell and show the story you were hired to tell.
• Learning acting is understanding and practicing this process by triggering the power of imagination and getting to the NEEDS and ACTIONS underneath the outward appearance of a character's behavior. 

The Fact No 2.

The human behavior we observe around are too diverse, leading to a creation of people of different attitudes with underlying emotions.  To transform yourself into this unique and dynamic character truthfully becomes difficult, may be practically impossible if you don't have at least some inborn power of imagination, and on the top of it, may get compounded with the lack of knowledge and training.

For example.
You’re shooting a scene and your director tells you – “More anger!”. OK, so how do you do that? You decide to be louder and FEEL the way you do in life when you’re angry. The director yells “Cut!, What the f*** are you doing? That’s terrible!”
You’re baffled and also in a panic – if you don’t get this right, you’ll never be hired by this director ever again or his friends.  But if you have been learning acting, and at the right school or with a good personal coach, you will have a way to solve this. You will know that what the director really wants is more intensity, more emotions of action. Meaning that if you fight for whatever you’re fighting for in the scene, anger will happen naturally, if you are feeling the situation in a scene as 'happening really' rather than trying hard to generate an emotion of increased anger.
The result will be believable, your director will be happy, and you will keep your job.

• The point is, you need to understand and learn the process of acting (especially developing the power of imagination and creating a physical and emotions generation center within you. 
• You will be shocked how very few directors understand that process and rely on YOU to understand it and give them the results they need in order to move on to the next shot.

Conclusion

So a word of advice, it’s OK to call yourself an actor before you are one, but also "Know How To Do The Job". 

You may get acting jobs because of your looks and body or with excellent communication skills but how long? Without learning and mastering the fine craft of acting, If you’re just faking it, you will be found out and it won’t be pretty. 1. Facebook Fan Page. 

Facebook is the most popular social media platform to date and has a wide range of features with an easy-to-navigate interface. One of the best features would be the fan page integration. If you’re an actor, I suggest building a fan page. It’s pretty much an interactive electronic press kit that anyone can view. Being able to post images, video, and updates on your current work while using a different profile than your original one is excellent. Your fan page should focus mostly on news and press opportunities, especially for those that would prefer they keep their personal profile private.

2. Twitter Account.
Twitter is a great place to share your information, press, and work. You have direct access to other actors, celebrities, directors, casting directors, etc. If you’re searching for an agent or trying to get your new acting project some publicity, Twitter is the most effective platform.
3. Linkedin Groups.
LinkedIn is one of the “classier” social media sites. Though many see it as more of a business and a job seeker portal, LinedIn have a variety of features that actors should take advantage of. The “Actors and Casting Directors” group are a good place to start. The group boasts roughly 32,000 members, which means there’s an opportunity to network and meet new acting buddies.
4. Tumblr.
I strongly recommend this for actors. Tumblr is a great way to showcase images of your past work, press, videos, clippings, contact information, etc. Also, it may be more mobile friendly than your official web page, keeping people who are searching for you online from getting frustrated on their phones.

Here are some DOs and one major DON’T of social media.

1. DO have a presence on the Internet. A short, powerful bio listing your major credits and training, a compelling photo and short video will do. The three top sites are Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. There are over 30 sub sites on LinkedIn especially for actors. Join them. There are daily discussions about every aspect of a performing career—commercials, prime time, films, agents and marketing tools. The sub sites are run by actors for the most part.
2. DO publish photos that show you at your best. No silly or obscene photos. No Photos with dark glasses.
3. DO upload videos that show your recent work. Short clips from films, trailers, or professionally shot scenes are okay. Keep it short, so downloading is easy.
4. DO post frequently. But don’t be a pest! Daily is too much—twice weekly is probably better.
5. DO say something intelligent. “I had Chicken Tikka and Biryani for dinner.” “I met my girlfriend today” NO! Professional info is what the Bollywood or TV industry wants to hear. Try things like “Had been to UTV for an audition for a feature film” or “got an Email from casting director Anup Singh to send my resume and portfolio for a commercial ad”
6. DON’T contact industry professionals if you don’t know them.

Do top casting directors find their actors on the Internet? 

No. They need to meet you in person to get a sense of your personality/acting or modeling abilities/ credibility and work ethic. Are you polished, well mannered, proactive, and continually training? Putting a friendly tweet with a link may be the first step in developing a relationship. Then the best is to call their office, seek an appointment and then visit.

Will casting directors call you in or hire you for a role by contacting them via social media? 

They will not hire you directly for a role. However, you may be shortlisted for an audition.

1. Welcome (Home) Page.
Use a head shot that most accurately shows your personality and include a greeting like “Welcome to my site!” or something appropriate to your brand and personality. Perhaps you might want to include a mission statement or your favorite inspiring quote, for example-“Life's like a play: it's not the length, but the excellence of the acting that matters”
Use your favorite colors, and include something personal, such as your “everyday” cap, your favorite (signature) outfit or your motorcycle.
Now the professional stuff.
2. Head shot(s).
Try to put at least two to three photos here. Use a smiling straight close up front profile shot which can show your teeth which may work for commercials (ads), a close up side profile and a full length head shot.
3. Show Reels.
If you don’t have your clips from TV series and films, prepare one or two (contact me if you don’t know how to do it), each of not more then 1 or 2 minutes and put them on this page. Remember, it should be film with a short, fun, fast-paced emotions (comedy, passion, anger, love, empathy etc), Why? It’s one minute, fast-paced, easy to watch and will show your range without them having to sit through a whole scene. Find a good student director from an institute who can write a small scene with few lines, a camera, a operator and an editor and make a HOT clip of you—everyone loves watching HOT stuff . Make it look like a hot trailer from a hit movie, and it will sell you!
4. Resume.
Make a crisp 10 seconds readable resume, just one page for acting assignments. You can make one or two other mini resumes as a dancer or martial arts expert or as a singer. You can visit web and search for “ideal resume for actors” and create one which describes you the best.
However, the main subheading could be:

At the top mention your name in large, bold letters. Followed by your contact info, height, weight, hair color, eye color, and union associations if any.

Then mention credits. The roles you had in plays, musicals, films, TV shows, commercials, voice overs, etc. Don't have a lot of experience? Mention what you can do e.g. I'm tall, thin, and funny. I can play a character role or as a villain or as a romantic actor.... look in the mirror and imagine who you might play in a movie. Are you the girl next door, the bombshell, the romantic lead, the funny man? Once you know, you can tell them how to cast you.

Training. Where you studied and what kind of program. If you've had quality acting training, directors are liable to take you more seriously. Update your resume regularly.
Your actor resume is great for telling directors what kind of actor you are. If you can do that, you're bound to get hired!

5. Photo Gallery and Lifestyle Photos.
Remember to capture in camera all your activities e.g. horse riding in Matheran or on a sea shore, riding a motorbike, attending a social function, swimming, giving a welcome speech somewhere, attending an acting workshop etc you are involved in. If a casting director can see you excelling in different activities he/she would be better impressed than seeing your studio portfolio pictures in different dresses and poses. However, this does not mean your portfolio pictures are not important. They are but additionally if he/she sees that you are a you’re a daring mountain climber, a sailor, can ride a sports bike, look great in a bikini, socialize well, they will be more impressed. All that will enhance your marketability as a actor. Film directors may actually see you in their projects from those photos.
What you should NOT put on your website
Intimate photos. No nudity or anything sexually explicit
Photos or info about your children, personal residence, address, or anything that might provoke a stalker to follow or harass you. Protect your family

6. Start a Blog in your website.
This is a great opportunity to show your own style and really demonstrate who you are through real life stories, incidents (anecdotes. Remember a coordinator or a casting director will want to know more about you than how you audition and if you get a call back.
